VIRGINITY FOR SALE

I think this is empowering. I'm using what I have to better myself.

The above words are said by Natalie Dylan (its a pseudonym - not her real name), a 22-year-old San Diego native and a B.S. graduate in woman's studies from Sacramento State College, California, who is selling her virginity to finance the graduate studies of her sister and herself.

She announced the bid at "The Howard Stern Show" in SIRIUS XM Radio. For safety reasons, the auction will take place at Moonlite Bunny Ranch, a legal brothel in Carson City, Nevada with bids coming in through their website. One time only she will appear and give up her virginity to the highest bidder.

This is not the first time in history that virginity is auctioned. In 2004, 18-year-old Rosie Reid, a lesbian student at Bristol University, auctioned her virginity for £8,400. In 2007, 18-year-old Carys Copestake tried to sell hers off for £10,000. And here comes our Californian girl, on 9th September 2008.

After eBay rejected to host the auction proposal, she approached Bunny Ranch. "She comes to us with a very special gift, Natalie is a virgin and would like to sell this priceless and rare commodity in a very exclusive and private setting," says Dennis Hof, the owner of the Bunny Ranch Web site.

She got the auction idea after reading about a Peruvian woman, who got a a whopping $1.5 million bid from a Canadian man, when she needed to pay for her mother's medical bills (but the woman reportedly decided not to go through with the sex). Why did Natalie reached a financial down-time? Its a story.

Her stepfather allegedly used her college status to fraudulently apply for student loans, and then ran off with the money. "The main purpose of this is to finance a couple things in my life, I don’t think auctioning my virginity will solve all my problems, but it will create some financial stability".

Some people may condemn me, But I’m ready for the controversy,” she says. She contemplates a gynecological examination and a polygraph test to prove her chastity. Her mother, a conservative fourth-grade teacher doesn't approve of the auction but is prepared for the adverse publicity that the stunt will attract.

Natalie wants it to be a combination of a great time with a good connection and a better financial agreement. She says, “I’m not just looking for the highest bidder, I want someone with chemistry. We'll take bids until I find a suitor I'm happy with. Someone who is a genuine, intelligent and an overall nice person.

Till date, more than 10,000 bidders have come forth to put a price tag on Dylan's purity reportedly and has netted a $3.7 million offer. Interestingly, she is planning to do the graduation in marriage psychology and family therapy so that she can practice Family Psychology in future for survival.

Many students said they're shocked to hear about their former classmate's plan, while others applaud her."She's just giving it to some random person. She should be giving it to someone special she loves," said one student. While another said "Selling virginity for schooling is a noble reason to get money".

What about the legal matters? She is marketing her maidenhead in Nevada, where prostitution is legal. "It's a First Amendment issue. You can advertise goods or services that are illegal where they're advertised but legal where they're performed," said Marc Randazza, an attorney in U.S.

"Being that prostitution is legal in the area that she's listing from, and she's over 18 and it's consensual, I would defer it to local police authorities," said David Staretz, a spokesman for the FBI's Las Vegas field office to a magazine. Thus she has cleared nearly everything to make her business.

What Natalie as a girl, basically feels about auctioning her precious stuff? She says "When I was younger, I wanted 100% romance, possibly even wait for marriage. But as I grew up, reality kinda hit,". She adds "And I think We live in a capitalist society. Why shouldn't I be allowed to capitalize on my virginity?"

Awaiting for "THE PERFECT FIRST DATE".

In America, there are many legitimate and morally upright ways to bring ''financial stabilty'' in one's life.Selling virginity is definitely not one of them. Waitressing is one avenue she could have explored which is very American !
What difference will if she sells her virginity to the highest bidder and a professional hooker have ?

On the whole,it's a sleazy way to make some money and a flimsy excuse to get some action.
